As a family of 4, we stayed at 1964 for 3 weeks during our visit to Sri Lanka. The location, nestled in the hills amidst a tea plantation, was serene and offered breathtaking views. The hosts, Jay and Lahiru, were attentive and ensured our comfort. The rooms were basic but clean and cozy. It was a joy to take morning walks through the plantation, witnessing the misty mountains and sunrise. Transport to town was convenient with the local bus passing by regularly. The communal meals were delicious, ample, and gave us a chance to connect with other guests.

    We strongly recommend this hotel.

Value for money was great, got more than I expected with a beautiful room and stunning views from the property. The location was ideal, secluded on a tea plantation but still walking distance to Little Adams Peak and The Nine Arch Bridge. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and even cooked delicious Sri Lankan dinners for me.

The breakfast experience could be improved, maybe by adding more variety or options to choose from.

The views of those never-ending hills were jaw-dropping! And let's not forget the daily manager's reception, where I indulged in free goodies. Oh, and the WiFi actually worked!

Who needs a location near the station when you can hike up those hills? Such a "not bad but beautiful" inconvenience!

This hidden gem in the heart of nature is the ultimate way to explore the stunning surroundings. The two amazing brothers who manage this place are not only incredibly friendly and helpful, but they also speak flawless English. Their dinners are out of this world, leaving your taste buds in a state of pure bliss. Nestled amidst a tea plantation, you'll find yourself far away from the touristy and artificial city center. This is the real deal, providing direct access to Ella's Rock, Little Adam's Peak, and the enchanting Nine Arches Bridge. With spacious and comfortable rooms, a cozy lounge area for mingling with fellow travelers, and a reliable Wi-Fi connection, this place has it all. The clean and spacious shared bathrooms are a bonus. Oh, and the breakfast and dinner portions are so generous, they'll leave you feeling like royalty. Trust me, this recommendation is absolutely worth it. Don't think twice - highly recommended!

The staff at this cozy hostel were absolutely amazing! They were friendly, accommodating, and went above and beyond to make sure my stay was comfortable. the location of the hostel was also a highlight. It was nestled in the beautiful rolling countryside, offering stunning views. Plus, being away from the city center added to the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Another advantage was the delicious meals cooked by the owners in the evenings, making it convenient and enjoyable to stay in.

That the hostel was a little far from town, making it a bit inconvenient to access. there were regular buses available for a reasonable price, and the hostel even had their own tuk-tuks for hire.

We were initially worried about the location of 1964, but we couldn't have been more wrong. The hostel is situated in the middle of a tea plantation, and the views are absolutely breathtaking. Waking up to the sight of Ella Rock and mist-covered mountains was like stepping into a National Geographic episode. The silence and tranquility were a welcome change, and we enjoyed morning walks through the plantation, occasionally meeting tea pickers along the way. The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable, and we didn't even need a fan or air conditioning thanks to the cool hillside location. Jay and Lahiru, the hosts, were incredibly friendly and ensured that our family of four had everything we needed. Their honesty and genuine kindness made our stay even more special. We loved the communal meals, where we got to interact with other guests, and the food prepared by Lahiru was absolutely delicious. Getting into town was easy with the local bus passing by regularly or the option of a drive with Jay. our stay at 1964 was one of the best experiences during our visit to Sri Lanka. We can't wait to return!
